Hitting the Trail: Avid Trails at Bexley Opens with a Bang

It’s official. With the grand opening of Bexley comes the grand opening of Florida’s first Avid Trails system. Hike, bike, run or roll, this beautiful Pasco County community is like nothing in the area. With almost 1,000 visitors, we hit the ground running (and riding) as future Bexley trailblazers got their first opportunity to check out the most unique community trail system in the region. And we’re glad to see the community is responding, with the bike park and trails system already generating plenty of “Bexley buzz” according to this Laker / Lutz News article covering the event.

Avid Trails at Bexley by Newland CommunitiesBexley is right up our alley with it’s distinctly bicycle, nature and outdoor lifestyle friendly vibe – including a community bike shop by Suncoast Trailside Bicycles and a robust Avid Trails system complete with miles of multi-use trails, walking paths, two Avid Bike Parks, multiple pump tracks, single track trails, outdoor exercise stations and a host of incredible parks.

While most nearby communities feature primarily concrete or asphalt “trails”, the Avid Trail system at Bexley includes multiple surfaces designed for use type and joint friendliness. The community also includes the first segment of the planned Orange Belt Trail which connects to the 42-mile Suncoast Trail and will one day link users from Trinity through Land O’ Lakes to Dade City. Inside the neighborhoods, recycled asphalt trails meander around scenic ponds and preserved open spaces, while a planned network of fun and flowy single track will provide a totally unique experience for bikers, runners and hikers alike.

The first of two Avid Bike Parks at Bexley also made its debut at Grand Opening. Thanks to the team at Suncoast Trailside Bicycles, attendees could grab a bike, strap on a helmet and try their hand at riding the region’s first and only asphalt pump track. The fun and challenges skills loop and practice area were on display as well. Skills were tested, shredding commenced, and smiles were had by all.

“This place is amazing and 100% geared for getting people outdoors. Miles and miles of multi-use trails, several bike parks, single track and a trail connection to the famous Suncoast Trail. No other community is like this. Everyone that rode the pump tracks at Grand Opening had a blast. We can’t wait to see more people out there having fun” – Geoff Lanier, owner of Suncoast Trailside Bicycles.

Beyond trails and bike parks, visitors checked out the first three Avid Stations constructed in Phase 1 at Bexley including Band Together, Slow & Steady, and the Push-Pull Pavilion. The stations are geared toward group exercise, functional fitness and are the perfect way to blow the roof off your workout in the Sunshine State. If you’re sick of the gym, Bexley is the place to be.

“We are stoked that Bexley is now open and grateful to work with Newland to deliver residents the experience and lifestyle they want. Concrete paths just don’t cut it. People want real trails. These trails, bike parks and outdoor group exercise stations are going to bring people together, and we can’t wait to see how it impacts the community long term. We think it will make the decision to move to Bexley pretty easy.” – Justin Lax, President, Avid Trails, LLC
